INTRODUCTION
CINEMAKE is, in its basest form, a platform to connect various aspects of an industry together. The theatre industry is one of the harshest as well as exclusive industries, with people working in it facing an unimaginable amount of stress. There are various reasons as well as groups of people under this stress. With CINEMAKE, we aim to mainly help one such group, and that is the high school/college drama groups or small acting groups. By doing so, we hope to make the lives of people in at least this group a little easier.
PROBLEM
The idea behind CINEMAKE was to make the process of creating a play a lot easier. There are various problems that any acting venture face such as costumes and props, venues, lighting and makeup department, scripts, as well as auditioning actors and getting a good director. Without the proper access to these resources and the necessary connections, it is really hard to successfully perform a play. Speaking from personal experience, I can say that even the tiniest of things going wrong after the effort the people put into making a play can leave them with a heavy heart. This is one of the main inspirations behind CINEMAKE, which aims to ease their lives.
SOLUTION
When taking into account all the problems mentioned, the first thing we came up with was a way to bring all the spread-out tasks into one, for easier use of access for all. And that is how the birth of the all-in-one theatre platform, CINEMAKE came to be. We made a platform where members can easily buy costumes, book writers and even put-up ads for auditions. The website contains well built sections for each task so that users can have a smooth and stress-free process.
FEATURES
Now that we have vaguely talked about what CINEMAKE does in the above section, we shall list its main features in detail.
1. MARKET
The market is one our website’s key features, where members can buy, rent or sell any costume and props needed for various plays. This feature will be linked to local retailers in major cities and will showcase the products available with them. This feature cuts down the time required to search for retailers and book costumes. Moreover, if the retailer agrees, members can even place custom orders! Additionally, members have the option to ‘exchange’ costumes or props with one another, similar to barter trade.
2. PROFILE
The profile section is another key feature of CINEMAKE that can be said to make up its brand. While the market focused on physical objects such as costumes and props, the profile section focuses on human resources. To be more precise, the actors, writers and directors which make up the platform’s member network. Here, the users can create a profile with their name, credentials, work experience, etc. and interact with other users. This allows them to fulfil the lacking condition of connections, enabling actors to look for auditions and even help book writers. A small additional feature is that members can even upload short clips of their work on their profile, similar to stories.
3. ADVERTISEMENT
This section is exactly what it sounds like. Its an advertisement page where users post ads related to casting calls, specific jobs available and even regarding a specific costume or prop needed. Simple, yet efficient and much needed.
4. PODCAST (UNIQUE FEATURE)
When we talk about the podcast in terms of CINEMAKE, it refers to our unique feature which is built to put us a league above others. Basically, in our exclusive weekly podcast, we talk about current industry events, discuss new plays or films and sometimes have a chat with invited guests. However, what really makes the podcast stand out is our voice enactments of famous plays. The main aim for these plays is to help blind people who have an interest in acting and theatre but were not able to enjoy plays properly, a chance to experience its wonders.
FUTURE VISION
CINEMAKE is a new venture, which obviously means that what is out there on the internet right now, is not all of it. We have planned a few additional features to improve our platform as much as possible. One of them is the venue booking feature, which allows members to book stages and auditoriums for any plays they want to perform. We even plan to enable a built-in chat function for our members to connect easily.
CONCLUSION
CINEMAKE is the product of late-night brainstorm sessions and hard work of five college students. Although not by much, we do hope to improve and ease the lives of all who choose to trust in our platform, and we aim to revolutionize the industry for all those suffering from it.
